sewing necessaire with a hand painted Chinese
scene and is even signed on the lower backside
for Dreyfous, the company selling the case. The
inside top lid is lined with yellow silk and has the
sellers name of Dreyfous located in both Paris
and New York City. The beautiful swag and....

An amazing beautifully veneered circa 1830
English tortoiseshell etui. The inside is fitted with
ivory with tiny compartments for crochet hooks
that are so small probably used for baby clothes
or fine lace making. The top has red gold....

Presenting a circa 1830 French sewing box
made from olivewood with edges cross-banded
in rosewood. A design on top of the lid with
inlaid marquetry of rosewood, brass and
mother-of-pearl with a central brass plaque in a
scrolled floral design. The olive tree is not cut
down for boxes such as this but made from the
pruning of the tree that is essential to its growth.
The inside lid is lined with a purple/blue.....

A rare and stunning circa 1840 French pink dyed shagreen necessaire with a rhinestone swan on top. The inside is lined with pink velvet with five sewing implements, thimble, scissors, stiletto, needle case and bodkin that are all gold gilt and lightly decorated with small florets.....

royal blue and gold starred paper, the outside
bottom is lined with a very thin layer of red...

Presenting a stunning English circa 1840’s
tortoiseshell sewing box with a sterling silver
name plaque on top with the name of “Mary L.
Howland”, escutcheon with key and sits upon
four bun feet. Tortoiseshell was primarily made
from the shell of the Hawksbill turtle and is
getting quite rare today since the sea turtle.....

A circa 1780 French or Italian mother-of-pearl
bodkin case incised with a floral design and
fitted with sterling silver bands at the juncture.
There are two makers’ marks on the inside tube
but they’re indistinguishable. In wonderful
condition, the two pieces fit snugly, slight wear..

A circa 1850’s English fitted sewing case called
a “lady’s companion” of black leather with gold
tooling made to resemble a book. The interior is
lined with maroon leather. Inside are five tools:
thimble, leather needle case, scissors, bodkin...

A rare circa 1800 continental knitted pincushion
ball worked in taupe and brown silks. One side
with the sentiment “A trifle from broad stairs”
with small dogs, the other side a three mast ship.
Finished around the edges with a braided cord.
Discolored from age that is typical for a cloth....
