Made from an Algerian tent curtain a pair of pillows from the early 19th century mat of gold with raised arbors on clouds in silver metal thread. Edged with French metallic torchon lace and silver metal fringe, backed with chocolate brown silk velvet, down insert.

From 1838 until independence, the whole Mediterranean region of Algeria was administered as an integral part of France. The interior of Algeria, like the rest of French North Africa, was never considered part of France. One of France's longest-held overseas territories, Algeria became a destination for hundreds of thousands of European immigrants giving textiles their European influence.

Condition: The front fabric has taken on a beautiful patina due to age but isn’t that what we all look for?
