Italian, 16th century, blue and yellow silk lampas, an ornately patterned fabric resembling damask, decorated with a repeating pattern of central floral urns and crowns inside curved volutes and branches. This design was derived from an ancient Graeco-roman motif. Edged with an Italian 18th century handmade torchon multi-colored metal lace, finished with matching 19th century French metal tassels. Backed in blue silk velvet.
Condition: Wear to some of the silk threads from age and use, typical for something over 300 years old.
