
A 17th century Flemish tapestry fragment finely woven with silk and wool depicting a crest with crabs and brightly colored flowers. The crabs represent great strength and power in gripping on the crest with crosses all within a cartouche. Edged with an 18th century gold metallic tape on champagne/neutral colored silk velvet and finished around the outside edges with a thick 19th century gold metallic cord that has patina with age.
Condition: Ancient restorations that is quite common with pieces this age and something that was did duty as a chair back. The colors are bright and the tapestry is strong, all has patina.
